Coffee Shop Trends – what owners should know
The latest coffee shop trends are always a good guide to what you can think about if you are interesting in opening a coffee shop or perhaps running one.
The first seems to be that a little sauce generates publicity. The Maine topless shop has attracted massive amounts of publicity, while Los Angeles has just seen a shop open with the serving done by bikini clad baristas. They already have plans to expand. So number one in the coffee shop trends list has to be make sure you look good in not too much!
Other coffee shop trends seem to include a move away against free WI-FI and laptop usage. There seems to be a backlash against the costs – electricity usage of laptops was proving surprisingly expensive, plus the sheer amount of space laptops take up. On the down side this could lose custom from busy sales reps, students and others. It’s a tricky balance to get right and might just depend on shop size for the best answer.
The third and most positive of coffee shop trends for people thinking of getting involved in the Coffee Business is that it is holding up pretty well. Stats show than more than half of Americans, for example, drink coffee. That’s a large market to pitch at! However, according to recent research, consumers are looking to shop around a little more when it comes to their daily coffee fix.
So this is a gentle hint to anyone thinking of opening a coffee house is to make sure they have that unique feel. Whether it comes from knowing your customers as individuals and providing great service, an imaginative theme that makes you stand out from the crowd, or coming up with some specialty coffees or even a little latte art, a shop needs to have a special selling point to get people coming back.
